Imminence: Work focusing on the threshold of action. For example, a mouth held open, just before beginning to eat.
The work draws on the anticipatory nature of sensory discomfort, particularly in relation to misophonia, where distress often comes before the trigger itself. Where the moment before becomes the moment of tension. Reacting to not what is happening, but what is about to happen.
The work puts the viewer in a suspended state with me and reflects my experience that is echoed every day. Where the imminence of the act and the certainty of it happening, causes discomfort.
